3D Shapes Names

We all learned 3D shapes at school when we were young, but it is time to brush up. It is possible to come across some strange 3D shapes, also it is important to know what they are and their names.

  • Cylinder

In its most general definition, a cylinder is a geometric figure, which consists of two circles with equal bottom and top bases and is limited by two surfaces that run parallel to its axis. In other words, it is a 3d shape created as a result of the translation of a circle. There are two types of cylinders, perpendicular and oblique. There are many areas where rollers are used, from the kitchen to the industry and the clothing sector.

  • Cube

The geometric shape called the cube is formed by bringing together 6 squares whose areas and surfaces are perpendicular and equal to each other. The most important feature is that all surfaces are equal to each other. The volume of the cube, which is frequently encountered in mathematical problems, is found by multiplying its 3 equal parts: x.x.x. Another area where the cube appears is intelligence games and decorative household items.

  • Cuboid

The shape consisting of 6 rectangular pieces at right angles to each other is called cuboid.

  • Cone

A more interesting geometric shape than the others, the cone is formed by joining all the points of a circle in a plane at a point outside the plane. It is a 3d geometric shape that looks like a triangle no matter which way it is viewed. When viewed from above, the end point is visible, when viewed from below, the circle at the base is visible.

Other 3D Shapes Names

  • Pyramid

Although it resembles a cone in shape, it actually has major differences. A pyramid is a geometric shape formed by joining points on a polygonal plane out of the plane. It is a polyhedral geometric shape on a polygonal base. The pyramids, which were built as king tombs in ancient Egyptian civilizations, still maintain their mystery and importance today.

  • Torus

Resembling a donut or bagel surface, the torus is such a geometric object. It can be said that it has a shape that we encounter in many places in daily life.
